Founded in January 1984 to support the aims and objectives of Rehoboth McKinley Christian Hospital (RMCH), the Auxiliary has supported the hospital through volunteer service and fundraising efforts ever since. This non-profit group is comprised of community volunteers dedicated to brightening the stays of RMCH patients by delivering encouragement and support throughout the hospital.
The Auxiliary's support includes operating a thrift shop, the hospital gift shop and the hospital information desk. The Auxiliary is very active in coordinating programs and events, such as quarterly blood drives, the Gallup Balloon Rally Breakfast, the RMCHCS Community Health Fair and Charity Invitational.
The Western Health Foundation is a 501C3 organization with its own Board of Directors and is a subsidiary of Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services (RMCHCS). Its purpose is to serve as goodwill ambassadors to the community and to support RMCHCS in its mission to serve God by making a profound and lasting difference in the health and quality of life for all people in the community.
During its first decade, the Foundation raised funds to develop the region's only comprehensive Behavioral Health Unit. Today, RMCHCS Behavioral Health Services includes outpatient mental health services, a 90-day residential alcohol and substance abuse treatment program, a work rehabilitation program, and a transitional housing program.
In 1995, the Foundation raised over $2.3 million to build a new emergency room, Intensive Care Unit, and modern laboratory for RMCHCS. Since 1996, the Foundation holds an annual fundraiser each fall, known as the Charity Invitational, which has raised over $5.5 million for new medical equipment, services, and programs. In addition, the Foundation raises funds for RMCHCS Reach Out and Read program, Home Health and Hospice Services, and the Healthy Parents, Healthy Kids program.
The Foundation has four standing committees that are to meet quarterly. They are the Executive, Finance, Nominating, and Ambassador/Hospitality Committees. Two additional committees, the Major Gift Committee and the Charity Invitational Committee are formed and meet as needed.

Pastoral Care volunteers are trained clergy who offer pastoral services with patients in crisis as well as lead church services and bible studies in units like the BHS Addictions Unit.
For more information contact the Chaplain at 505.863.7140 or the main switchboard at 505.863.7000.
Hospice volunteers are trained to help patients and their families with an array of services. They can stay with the patient so the care giver can have a break. They can help patients by reading to them, reminiscing, creating memory books or just sitting and keeping company. They may also offer a specific skill (for example, a massage, home maintenance, music, etc.) to be used by hospice patients and their families.
The Auxiliary has a high school youth program that provides volunteer opportunities for young people interested in pursuing healthcare related fields. For more information on the youth program, call Christina Nye, Auxiliary Youth Volunteer Coordinator at 505-722-6986.
Each year the Auxiliary awards scholarships to students who are in their second year of studies or more in a healthcare related field of study.
